Knowledge mobilisation

Where mobilised knowledge meets action, transformation begins

What is Knowledge Mobilisation (“KM”)? KM helps research have greater impact by bringing together different communities (such as researchers, policy-makers, practitioners, patients and the public) to share knowledge to catalyse change. Thus, it helps reduce the gap between research evidence, policy, and practice.

KM is more than dissemination. It involves a two-way dialogue between researchers and research users and should be integrated across the research cycle.

When thinking about knowledge mobilisation, researchers can consider these questions:

  • What do you want to be different because of your research?
  • Who are the people who can make this change happen and how can you engage them?
  • How can you work together to make change happen?

We’re here to help

The Population Health Science Institute (PHSI) KM team are offering:

  • Introduction to KM” roadshow
  • Tailored KM advice for researchers
  • Monthly KM Newsletter with hints and tips
  • KM community of practice meetings
  • KM training and workshops
  • Funding through awards

Our strategy

Our 2024-25 KM Strategy aims to bridge the gap between research, policy and practice by building capability and fostering collaboration across disciplines and with partners beyond academia.
